Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
It was wonderful to see so many of you at our well attended Meet the Teacher Night. October is National Safety Month. Some highlights include our annual Red Ribbon Week sponsored by our fabulous PTA and Fire Safety education for our K-2 students. On October 8th we will participate in an evacuation drill and an early dismissal drill. We will also participate in Digital Citizenship Week, October 15-18. We will participate in an activity that helps educate our students on how to be safe and good digital citizens on the Internet and various apps.
I would like to thank the entire Camp Avenue community for complying with our building safety procedures, specifically having photo I.D. ready to scan upon entering the vestibule. Your cooperation and assistance is appreciated as we strive to provide the safest learning environment for our students.
Our next PTA meeting will be at 7:30 pm. on Wednesday, October 23rd. I hope you can join us. Also, don’t forget to check our calendar for the various PTA-sponsored activities planned for our students and families.
If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact me. I am looking forward to an OUTSTANDING October!
Sincerely,
Hillary Bromberg, Ed.D.

Important Reminder About Arrival at 8:15 am
Upon arrival at 8:15 am, please remember to drive up to the teacher in the traffic circle. If there is space, we ask that you drive past the cross walk so that we can move the cars more efficiently from Merrick Avenue. I know the arrival procedures are not ideal, but we thank you for your patience as we look out for the safety of our students.
Important Reminder about Absences and Which Phone Number to Use
Please be reminded that regular school attendance is not only mandated by law, but is a key ingredient for educational success. Legal reasons for absences include: illness, death in family, court appearances, and observance of religious holidays. If your child is frequently absent due to illness, you will be contacted and medical documentation may be requested.
All other absences will be considered unexcused or truant. Please also be aware that lateness to school can be considered partial truancy and is monitored as closely as absences. Chronic lateness is disruptive to the students in the class, the teacher, and most importantly, to the child. Parents and guardians are asked to contact the school to report each absence. This can be done by calling our Absentee Line at 516-379-3733. If you are requesting classwork and/or homework for your child on the day of the absence, please leave that message with the nurse or on the absence line. Students are requested to submit a written and signed excuse note for each absence when they return to school.
