Our Path Note Topic
Recently, WASD has acquired the ability and supplies to provide the rapid COVID-19 antigen testing. Although, there are still false positives and false negative results that occur, the test is much more accurate than the earlier days of testing for COVID-19.
If a learner or staff member is showing COVID symptoms, with the written consent of the parent or the staff member, a school nurse can perform the test. The result s are typically available within 10-15 minutes.
The rapid test kits provide a convenient option for testing to families and staff. The tests also allow swifter identification of a positive case and quicker implementation of proper precautions in order to protect the school community. There is no cost to the individual/family.
The district was provided enough test kits for about 20% of its population. Each school has been issued test kits.
Although it doesn't prevent cases of COVID, it provides a much quicker notification of a positive case. Therefore, providing a faster response in viral spread mitigation.
If any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your school's nurse.
