A NOTE FROM MRS. SALAMY-School Librarian

Mrs. Salamy is trying to provide equitable access by expanding the Library's Audio collection. She is looking for MP3 players in working condition with at least 2MB and a charging cord. If you have a device that you would like to donate please send it to school in a marked bag with Mrs. Salamy's name and your name on it. Many thanks for the consideration!

Dear Parents,

Reading is one of the most important skills your child will learn in life. Like all skills improvement comes with practice, and the Petrova Library provides a wide variety of books for students to borrow for reading practice, information, and most importantly for enjoyment.

Your student’s class will visit the school library once every six-day cycle to select books after their information literacy lesson. You can help your student by reading to or with him/her and asking questions about the story. Even the older students thrive when parents read to them. Please join us in encouraging your child to spend time reading at home every day. **New this year, responsible students are welcome to come to the Library any time on A and D days to refresh their reading supply. They just need their teacher’s permission :)

  • Students are responsible to handle library books with care, since they are for everyone to share. Please keep books away from pets, food, and all liquids. (Full water bottles and leftover snacks in the backpacks are especially dangerous. A plastic library bag

is a great damage prevention tool.

  • Any book damage should be reported to the library ASAP so we can attempt repairs.

  • Library books may be kept for one cycle. An overdue book means a student cannot borrow another book (until the overdue book is returned).

  • If a book is lost or damaged, a donation towards a replacement will be requested from the parents.

  • If your family plans to move from the Saranac Lake area, please return all books before moving.

We hope your student will read and enjoy many books and grow in reading skills while attending our school.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Salamy, Teacher/Library Media Specialist
