The Hawk Report

Christa McAuliffe MS Parent Newsletter - Week of August 22nd

A Message From Our Principal, Mr. Lemon

Greeting Hawk Nation Parents and Students,

We truly are Hawk PROUD with the hard work that our students are putting forth each and everyday. They are showing up, doing the work, and making positive choices that help to make their future and our campus better. Give your student(s) a hug and tell them to keep up the hard work!

As we prepare for the upcoming week, please keep the following important updates in mind:

  • Parents We Need You! We are preparing to start up the CMMS PTO again, and need your help with making it a success. The Parent-Teacher Organization (PTO) is a nonprofit group comprised of parents, teachers, and staff dedicated to improving the educational experience of all students at CMMS. They help organize special events such as the 8th Grade Prom/Week, Teacher Appreciation, spirit shirt designs and sales just to name a few. If you are interested in helping bring this important organization back to our campus, please email our Parent Liaison, Mr. Blackshire, at Terrence.Blackshire@fortbendisd.com.

  • This past week we had our first Lockdown and Shelter (Weather) Drills of the year; this makes 4 important drills that our students and staff have practiced to ensure we are prepared in case of emergency. We will continue to notify you when we have drills so that you know what steps/procedures we are taking to keep our students and staff safe. Should you ever have questions about our drills or safety procedures, please contact Assistant Principal, Mr. Wilson (Blake.Wilson@fortbendisd.com).

  • As previously mentioned, we had our Code of Conduct talks the first week of school, where we discussed expectations with each grade level. We have included a copy of that presentation (click here), and encourage you to continue speaking with your student about following expectations while on campus.

This year is off to a really great start! Let's continue to work together, and please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or concerns. Remember, we are Hawk Nation... Hawk Proud!

Ren360 Testing

FBISD / CMMSl utilizes Renaissance Star 360 Assessments to help teachers understand what students know and what they are ready to learn next. These assessments are given throughout the school year to monitor student progress and are administered in the school setting. Part of our normal testing plan includes a fall, beginning of the year assessment. The Beginning of the Year assessment window is August 22 – September 9, 2022. The assessments will be given during the school day. Parents will receive student score reports via family access in Skyward after the assessment window closes. If you have any questions, please contact your student’s teacher.
