New Teacher Bio

Stephen was born in the sprawling metropolis that is Tokyo, Japan. He lived there until the age of 10 when he moved to Granger, IN and began attending Prairie Vista. He spent 1 year at Schmucker Middle School, and then spent 2 years at the then newly opened Discovery middle school (his thumb print is somewhere on the Archer logo!) Stephen got his B.A. in Japanese Language and Culture from Indiana University Bloomington and then got his M.S. in Acupuncture from the Phoenix Institute of Herbal Medicine & Acupuncture.

Stephen is a die-hard martial artist: one of his life goals that he has already attained was to build a dojo on his own property. Another goal of his is to some day open up a martial arts school that sheds the flashiness of commercialized sport and helps others find their path of martial arts. Stephen is married to his college sweetheart and in the last year has enjoyed the pleasures of fatherhood thanks to his baby boy.

New Teacher Bio

Jennifer Husband is an 8th grade science teacher who was born and raised in South Bend. She graduated from Penn High School in 2005 and Manchester University in 2009. She has taught middle school science for 5 years and is excited to finally be back home at PHM. In addition to transferring corporations this summer, Jennie has bought her first fixer upper and is having a blast learning about everything that can go wrong in home ownership. Outside of teaching, Jennifer has always enjoyed coaching and playing basketball, playing the piano and tap dancing. She is very excited to be a part of the Schmucker team this year and can’t wait to see what this year has in store for her.

New Teacher Bio

Amber Jaarda is our new Computer Lab Coordinator. She is a lifelong PHM resident and has been married to her husband Mike for 14 years. When she is not playing taxi cab driver to her sons for Cross Country, Swimming, Soccer or Track she likes to spend time camping, hiking, biking and TRAVELING! Amber is very active in her church and has a heart for missions and is part of a non-profit organization that is currently rebuilding a school in the Dominican Republic and an orphanage in Haiti. Amber loves photography, cooking/baking, the Chicago Cubs and college football (LETS GO IRISH!). She is very excited to be a part of the SMS team!
