Gladiator News
Dr. Hector P. Garcia Middle School
November 21- December 2, 2016
Friday, November 18th was our 4th annual Dodge Hunger community service project. Our students showed up in true Gladiator style and were ready to participate! The gym was filled all afternoon with students cheering, chanting, screaming, and encouraging each dodge ball team. It was certainly a day that made you proud to be a Gladiator. The stands were filled with parents supporting the teams as well. Our community raised $4,146.25 and 2 barrels of food for the San Antonio Food Bank. That is the most we have ever raised and the most teams participate in the tournament. Thank you for donating and supporting the SA Food Bank. If you have pictures to share, email them to Tracy.Wernli@nisd.net. I'll share a highlights video in the next newsletter.
Our PTA and parent volunteers never cease to amaze us with their support and generosity! We were treated to a tail-gating themed luncheon complete with chicken wings, sliders, Frito pie and desserts galore! Thank you for donating food to treat our staff to a well deserved feast. Thank you to our parent volunteers that assisted!
Congratulations to our band and orchestra students on making All Region. Band had 47 make it- the most ever! Orchestra had 41 make it- the most of any other school! They could not do it without the dedication of their teachers: Guerrina Esparza, Alicia Perkins, Danica Murphy, and Josh Cox- thank you! Great Job!
