Smoke Signals: Staff Edition
Staff Development Schedule August 2017
From the Principal
I hope that you have all had a wonderful summer and that you took plenty of time to unplug, unwind, and get rejuvenated. The 2017-18 school year is quickly approaching!
The theme for WISD this year is “Tradition Never Graduates.” As a WHS graduate, I’ve thought a lot about the traditions that make WISD the best. While our football team, band, and homecoming shenanigans quickly come to mind, our longstanding tradition of excellence in the classroom and family-like culture make me especially proud. Our tradition at Shackelford is one of unwavering academic excellence, exceptional student behavior, and a staff that truly cares for our students.
In the newsletter below, you'll find all the information you need to know about our staff development weeks. I will update as new information becomes available. Dates, times, location, lunch plans, and dress code are outlined for each day. If you have any questions, please let me know.
I am very proud to be your principal and hope to make this year one of our very best...Welcome back!
Sincerely,
Theresa
From the Assistant Principal...
Welcome Back Staff!
I am excited and looking forward to seeing you all! Summer is a great break, but I enjoy being connected with staff and students again in August! With the new school year upon us, I know some are probably wishing there was more time and you are not sure you are ready yet to start again….. but, I know that you will be ready and excited when those students fill your rooms!
I am working hard on having materials ready for you upon your arrival back to campus. When you get back, you should have all of your consumables ready and waiting! I want to make your transition back to work as painless and stress free as I possibly can for you. On that note, I hope that you will be POSITIVE and believe that even though there will be plenty of opportunities for stress to get in your way, you will prove to be up to the challenge. Your students will feed off of whatever energy you provide, so remember to be POSITIVE and ALWAYS BE CONNECTING! I believe that Shackelford has the best teachers and staff, and I am very grateful to be able to watch what you do for students each and every day.
Mr. East
