#CelebrateMonday
April 16, 2018
I'm beginning to feel like spring is doing it's best to imitate winter! Maybe spring sympathizes with winter and feels bad that it gets such a bad and negative rap all the time?
Maybe, for some reason that is far beyond our understanding, spring has a secret dream to BE winter??
Or maybe, like we all do from time to time, spring has lost its sense of self-worth; perhaps it fails to recognize its own beauty and the wonder it brings to and inspires in the world!
Maybe spring needs us to give it a little positive talk...? Think that would work?
If you're anything like me (I know - that's a scary thought, actually), you awake not so much feeling reborn - but more like you're in a zombie-like state. But even if we do awake feeling that way - we need to shake it off and remind ourselves that the work we do every single day is some of the most important work that will ever be done!
It's vital for us as adults, whose primary purpose in life is to help kids realize their own dreams, that we NEVER stop dreaming! When we stop dreaming, then it becomes more and more difficult for us to achieve something beautiful - and for us to help our students see the beauty of their own dreams.
LIke Steven Spielberg, we should all be dreamers for a living! In the midst of encouraging our students and helping our students to achieve their very best, and in the midst of helping them through some of the most significant of life's trials, we MUST keep dreaming!
We must continue to say to ourselves and OUT LOUD:
- I wonder if...
- What if we...
- Do you think we could...
- Why don't we try...
- I really wish I...
And then we have to follow through! We have to see the dreams in front of us and then we need to go after them. And if we feel like we can't do it alone - then we have to call upon our tribes to help support us! Sometimes our dreams are so big that we can't possibly achieve them by ourselves - and that's awesome!
To #CelebrateMonday today and all week long, allow yourself time to dream! Allow yourself to wonder, to wish, to ask "what if?" - and allow yourself to connect with your people who will not only encourage but will also support those dreams!
You will benefit greatly as you dream new ways to do this most incredible and important work - and your students will reap the rewards that come from the outcomes of your dreams - even if it's just through seeing you dream and trying something new!
Do some dreaming today! That is a guaranteed way to make this the best Monday of the week!
