The Caste System:

  • aryan system of social classes

  • cornerstones of hinduism.

  • 4 basic castes:

  • Brahmans (priests and scholars)

  • Kshatriyatras (rulers and warriors)

  • Vaisyas (farmers and merchants)

  • Sudras (artisons and laborers).

  • further divided into smaller groups over time.

  • Outside of the castes were dalits, or untouchables, who had the lowest class in indian society.

  • Each person is born into the castes system and according to the religion, they have a moral duty to their caste called dharma.

In the caste system the people “belong” to their classes, and if they do well in the life they live in now, their next life will be in a higher class. However, if you are born in a lower class, you don’t have any right to complain because of dharma. Basically, it is like saying if a person is born black to a slave, it is their duty to be a slave for their life. The system is extremely racist and gives the people on the bottom few human rights.

North and South Korea Conflict

After the defeat of Japan in World War II, the Korean peninsula was occupied by the Soviet Union in the North and the United States in the South. The dividing line was the 38th parallel north. South Korea is a wealthy country and North Korea is not its underdeveloped South Korea wants to benefit from north Korea’s natural resources and South Korea wants to benefit from trading because the trade routes would be more accessible if north Korea let them pass on North Korea depends on South Korea for its food supply and south helps north with physical affairs this whole entire issue between north and south really leads to both countries depending on each country both rely on each other for resources and such. North Korea communism south democracy that's also an issue both thought they that the other country was trying to destroy their way of life. Both thought their system was superior Soviet north american troops South Korea became independent in 1948 South Korea had the support of the USA 1950 North Korea invaded South Korea trying to make them communist which didn't work out very well the UN had the back of South Korea too the war was a draw overall because the president of the USA called to invade North Korea up till today the peninsula is still divided.
