PBL Kicks Off with Two Nationally Known Speakers
Creator of Go! Go! Sports Girls Dolls Jodi Norgaard and American Ninja Warrior "Deaf Ninja" Kyle Schulze kicked off an 8th grade Problem-Based Learning (PBL) unit on raising awareness to help "invisible" groups in society. Both of the speakers motivated students to never give up on their dreams and their ideas even if there are challenges and barriers in the way.
Mrs. Norgaard and Mr. Schulze are both Glen Ellyn residents. Mrs. Norgaard’s children attended District 41 schools and Mr. Schulze attended Benjamin Franklin and Glenbard West High School. Thank you, Mrs. Norgaard and Mr. Schulze, for sharing your inspirational stories with the students!

Hadley Power Lunches Connect 8th Graders with Professionals
Director of the Film Department at the College of DuPage Tony Venezia (and former owner of a Hollywood special effects house) was the special guest in the Hadley Power Lunch Series this month. Mr. Venezia provided students with the opportunity to create a short “action-learning episode.” The Power Lunch Series is a monthly opportunity for interested Hadley 8th graders to make a connection with a professional over lunch. Thanks to Hadley teacher Mr. T for hosting the power lunches for students!
