THIS MONTH'S HIGHLIGHTS
PTMS Reads! Book Club
The PTMS Reads! Book Club met for the first time on October 22nd during study lab period to discuss the book Wonder. Though attendance was low, our discussion was terrific! We also looked at the book 365 Days of Wonder which was published after the original book. This book is filled with precepts - words to live by. It was fun to think about what our precepts are! We wrote them down and they have been displayed in the library. The moral of Wonder was to "Choose Kind," something that we talked about doing each day.
We hope that more students will join us for our next book discussion on January 13th and 14th when we discuss the book The Chronicles of Vladimir Tod: Eighth Grade Bites by Heather Brewer. You can learn more about our book club here.
The Hidden Benefits of Reading Aloud — Even for Older Kids
The article, The Hidden Benefits of Reading Aloud - Even for Older Kids, explores the idea of reading aloud to middle and high school children and how it enhances their vocabulary and listening skills.
The PTMS Library has so many great book options. Ask your son or daughter to check one out soon so that you can get back in the habit of reading together!
