A Message from the Principal
Hello Geneva Heights!!!
The weather finally gave us a reprieve and some needed rain and cooler temperatures made recess much more enjoyable. We completed a round of MAP testing this week and will continue next week with fluency testing for kinder. Please assist us by making certain that your Cougar gets plenty of rest and goes to bed at a decent time.
After a long awaited time, we will have our new Assistant Principal join us this coming week. Mrs. Ana Williams comes to us by way of Rockwall ISD and is super excited to join our staff as a champion of the Dual Language and IB model that is the foundation to Geneva Heights. I will provide an opportunity to introduce her in greater detail in next weeks SMORE.
Staying in line with new additions to our campus please welcome our newest staff member Mrs. Guaranga Robinson. Her profile is included in this week's staff profile section and we are very fortunate to add her to our campus family as our parent instructor. She will be our liaison between the campus and our Geneva Heights families and community.
Next week we have a couple of events that we would like your support. At 5:30 pm on Monday, September 18th, we are hosting a Campus Needs Assessment meeting for staff and families. The meeting will be held virtually so please join us Monday evening for this presentation. This meeting is a great opportunity for families to contribute in the future path of Geneva Heights. Information and the link are accessible further down our SMORE. On Friday, September 22 at 8:30 am join us in the cafeteria for Coffee with the Principal where families have the first opportunity to meet our new AP and share our Campus Improvement Plan. Please have a good safe weekend and a better coming week!

Beginning of the Year Testing
To help Dallas ISD teachers better understand where each student stands academically, a beginning-of-the-year-assessment will be administered. Kinder-5th graders will take the Measures of Academic Progress (MAP) assessment. MAP is an adaptive, computer-based test. This means that the difficulty level of the questions change to meet the needs of learners and help us understand exactly what students already know. This helps us tailor our instruction and focus on the new learning that your child needs.
Your child's teacher will be reaching out to inform you of your child's test dates. Teachers will be sending technology home. Don’t forget to scan both QR codes and sign both contracts as soon as you receive the device. Please send your child to school with his/her device (iPad or ChromeBook) and ensure that the device is fully charged. If your learner has headphones, please send those as well.
To learn more about MAP, use the QR code or visit this website. If you have additional questions, please reach out to your child’s homeroom teacher.

Meet our New Cougar
Mrs. Gauranga Robinson
Hi parents! I am delighted to be a part of the amazing staff here, at Geneva Heights Elementary School, as the Parent Instructor. I have been part of the Cougar family, for three years, as a parent and volunteer. I was born and raised in Dallas. I graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and have an Associate of Arts Degree, from El Centro College. I am a mother of four and have two sons attending Geneva Heights, this year. I am honored and humbled to have this opportunity to serve our community and families. I will partner with staff to find out student needs. Then, my goal is to ensure our parents and guardians have access to information and resources that our community and district have to offer. Together, we can enhance the success of every student and continue to build relationships within our community.
