Equilibrium Can Be Sickening
AP Chemistry Summer Project
Project Description
Students will use their knowledge of chemical equilibrium and Le Chatelier’s Principle to determine how equilibrium in the human body will change as conditions around them change. Students will design experiments that will test for a medical condition known as hypoxia which develops as mountain climbers increase their altitude too quickly.
Le Chatelier's Principle
Part 1 - Research Presentation
Create a presentation using Book Creator for iPad, Sock Puppets, Glogster, or WeVideo which describes and explains the following information:
- Working definitions of equilibrium, Le Chatelier's Principle, partial pressure, and altitude-induced hypoxia.
- How equilibrium, Le Chatelier's Principle, and partial pressure are demonstrated as climbers ascend in high altitudes.
- An explanation of how hemoglobin works and the chemical reactions that are present in the bloodstream.
-Short term and long term effects of hypoxia on the human body.
