The Depression Background

After nearly a decade of joy and prosperity, the United States was thrown into a huge disaster none as The Great Depression or Black Tuesday, October 29, 1929 the day the stock market dropped was the beginning of the Great Depression. As stock prices plummeted with no hope of recovery. People tried to sell their stock, but no one was buying. The stock market, which had seemed to be the sure way to become rich, quickly became the path to bankruptcy

How Maycomb was effected by the depression

Every one in maycomb is either middle, lower, or in poverty and Bob ewell loses his job because of the economic destruction the great depression caused. everyone had to watch what they did so they would not lose there job and everyone was slow on money even the cunninghams could not pay atticus for helping him whith his money troubles so he had to pay him with food he had grown on his farm.
