A Look Ahead

February 21st to 27th, 2016

Moving Forward with the FORWARD

Hello Huskies,

The 1990's music artist Vanilla Ice was a one-hit wonder! Remember the Badger test from last year? As it turned out, that was also a "one hit wonder." Although, not sure if the Badger Assessment qualifies as a "hit."

The Wisconsin Forward Exam will replace the Badger. It will be administered in English language arts and mathematics in grades 3 through 8, in science in grades 4 and 8, and in social studies in 4, 8, and 10. High school students in grades 9 through 11 will continue to take the ACT suite of exams.

The recently passed biennial budget (2015 Wisconsin Act 55), required the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) to procure a new state assessment for the 2015-16 school year. The procurement process is run by the Department of Administration (DOA) on behalf of DPI

Please take some time to review the link on the Forward Assessment for pertinent information.

We continue to learn details of this new assessment. We do know that students will most likely be using iPads. The district will also be providing keyboards for students to use during the test. At this point, we are planning on starting the test sometime after spring break during the month of April.

Please review the Coaches Corner for more information about this new state assessment. We will keep you updated as we learn additional details.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Thanks everyone for your efforts with parent-teacher conferences. I had the opportunity to push in several conferences. We are doing some incredible work with students. Part of this work includes building partnerships with families. Your positive attitude and willingness to be problem solvers creates a positive learning environment for students, family, and staff.

Have a great week,

Bob
