Leadership Oakland Happy Hour

On March 11, 2016, the Leadership Oakland Alumni Association hosted a Happy Hour at Liege Spirits Lounge in Oakland CA from 5:00pm-7:00pm. There was an awesome turn out and several leadership Oakland alums were able to meet the current Leadership Oakland participants in a social network environment and creating community. It was a fun and great networking event. The LOAA thanks everyone who was able to come out for this event!

Thank you Cat Brewer for your Leadership & Service!

The Leadership Oakland Alumni Association would like to extend a special thanks to Cat Brewer as her tenure with the Leadership Oakland program comes to an end. Her leadership and involvement has been very much appreciated. The Leadership Oakland Alumni Association hopes that she will continue to stay connected and involved with us in the future.

A special message from Cat Brewer

Cat has been so instrumental during the Leadership Oakland program, that we reached out to her in hopes that she would share a message with the Leadership Oakland Alumni Association. She graciously agree and sent the following message:

"After graduating from Leadership San Leandro in 2004, it was my dream to direct a Leadership program in addition to teaching communication courses at the college level. Through a fortuitous series of events, I was granted my wish 11 years ago at the Oakland Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce under the direction of Joseph Haraburda, who took a chance on trusting that I would take care of the program.

I'm proud of my accomplishments during my tenure with Leadership Oakland. I developed the clear pillars of the program: knowledge, network and know-how and watched many participants and graduates put them into practice! I also had the privilege of helping many participants confront both personal and professional challenges and observed them doing so with spirit, determination, knowledge, strength, flexibility and grace. But for me, my most important accomplishment has been the connections I've made. I've met some of the most brilliant, passionate, helpful and inspiring people through this program and for that I am eternally grateful, especially for the ones I now call friends.

While the end of my tenure is bittersweet, I know the program will live on under new leadership and it's my hope that each alum will continue their journey of leadership utilizing the knowledge they gained in the program, the network they built inside and outside of it, and the know-how you already possessed as well as what you learned from the program to make your communities and cities even more vibrant and exciting than they already are!"

The Leadership Oakland alums are very grateful for her leadership, involvement, service and wish her the best of luck on her future endeavors!
