WORDS FROM LYNN DAVIS
Recently, I had the opportunity to talk with Will Schwalbe, the author of “The End of Your Life Book Club”
Will and his mother Mary Anne loved to read and discuss what they were reading—a love that grew even more important after Mary Anne was diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer.
The “End of Your Life Book Club” is a very wise book which meditates on death, dying and parent-child relationships. Interspersed between this motif, are countless smaller grains of wisdom, sometimes from Will and sometimes from his mother. In each chapter, the author uses a book or several books as a conduit for his message.
There is a possibility that Mr. Schwalbe may visit us in the Spring. In the Meantime, I am trying to determine if there is any interest in forming a small book club, based upon his book and the books they read. Some of the books on their book list deal with cancer or death, but other books, on their list are “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” and “Olive Kitteridge. Our club could meet at serenity House Hospice and take any form we want…. Anybody interested in pursuing this? Call or e mail Lynn lynn.serenityhh@gmail.com
