Failure is okay
Parents,
Failure is a part of learning. Adversity is okay. I hope that at MHS, as an administrative and teaching staff, we are communicating to you on a regular basis that failure and adversity are a part of the learning experience. Now, this does not excuse us from reteaching when necessary, nor does it mean we create a system of survival of the fittest.
Below are two articles. One is about adversity, using sports as a backdrop, is applicable to all students. The second article is about failure. It mainly focuses on failures that occur in school. My hope is that we are creating a generation that is able to rebound from disappointment and even defeat. That will be the greatest legacy as parents and educators we can leave with our kids.

Safety and Security Update
Parents, please see the message below that was sent to me by the McKinney Police Department.
The city has installed a no-turn sign behind the movie theater just north of the intersection at Wilson Creek and Parkview. McKinney PD keeps getting complaints about MHS students not obeying this sign and our police department does not want to send traffic officers out and write tickets every day after school. Also, students have been using the movie theater parking lot to avoid the intersection.

While the journalism group was in Austin, the 2015 Lion Yearbook was busy
in California receiving the Pacemaker award from the National Scholastic

Pacemaker is the top award a scholastic journalistic entity can possibly
receive.
Meanwhile in Austin, the Lions won a Gold Star at the UIL's Interscholastic
