We will be holding Advisement Tuesday at 2:45 in order to distribute schedule verification forms and to show a PowerPoint Video from Counseling regarding next steps with schedule changes, especially as it pertains to our specialized programs (Work-Based Learning, Move on When Ready, AP, IB).

  • Please make sure you are actively monitoring during passing periods in the hallways.
  • Limit student movement during classes to emergency situations - and please provide a pass.
  • On Wednesday and Thursday, we are asking all faculty members to assist us with clearing the hallways and monitoring students at dismissal

Lead in Water Re-Testing - May 26

Lead in Water Re-Testing will take place during the morning of Friday, May 26. The water will be shut-off in all buildings at 7pm Thursday, May 25. Please use caution when initially drinking from water fountains on May 26, as the water may need additional running time before usage.

Post-Planning Checklist

Please note two additions to this year's checklist, based on district expectations:

  • Complete IU Awareness Courses (if completed by Wednesday, you will be included on a list. If completed after Wednesday, please attach a screenshot showing course completion)
  • Sign up for DCSD Summer CurriculumTraining for K-12 Teachers (applies to core content, Interrelated, ESOL, Media Center Specialist, Instructional Support Specialists, Intro to Business & Tech teachers).

Summer Hours

Building hours are Monday - Thursdays from 8am-3pm. Please call ahead if you are planning on working in your classrooms to make sure the custodians aren't working in your section.

Summer School

Druid Hills will be hosting credit recovery summer school June 5-29 from 8am-3pm Mondays-Thursdays. We will be offering the following courses:

  • Civics/Geography
  • US History
  • Coordinate Algebra
  • Analytic Geometry
  • Advanced Algebra
  • Environmental Science

You are welcome to give the invitation letter to qualifying students.

We are looking for a Social Studies teacher to cover Civics/Geography June 5-8. Please email Ms. Cunningham if interested (stipend is $35/hour)

SummerBridge - Teachers Needed

Druid Hills High will be holding our 2nd SummerBridge program for Rising 9th grade students July 24-27 from 8am-12pm. SummerBridge serves as a bridge to support rising 9th graders in making a successful transition to high school. New to this year, we will be providing support to students beginning the Pre-IB program. Please feel free to share the interest form.

We are looking for teachers interested in assisting (stipend is $35/hour). Please contact Ms. Cunningham if interested.

Class of 2017 - Summer Transition Centers

DCSD's Student Advancement Department will pilot Summer Transition Centers during the month of June. The centers will provide support for students graduating in the Class of 2017 (or recent graduates) but unsure of next steps for college. We want to help these students make a smooth transition to their college campus in the fall!
