Bergen-Belsen is a concentration camp 11 miles north of Celle, Germany. It was established in 1940. In 1943 it was converted into a civilian camp. It was composed of numerous camps at various times of its existence

It existed from 1940 through 1945.Before 1943 it was just a prisoner of war camp. Over time, Bergen-Belsen held jews, POWS (prisoner of war), political prisoners, gypsies, asocials, criminals, Joehovahs witnesses, and homosexuals.


At the end of July 1944 there were around 7300 in Bergen-Belsen. In December it increased to 15000. In February 1945 there were 22000. By April 1945 there were 60000 prisoners. During Bergen-Belsens existence over 50000 people died. THE END.
