Gold Rush
California
How it all began
A man named James W. Marshall came accross a gold nugget while building a sawmill on January 24th, 1848, the news of his discovery brung many people to travel to California to collect gold. This went global. There were so many people that came to California that they ended up building a Railway to make transportation easier. There were a large amount of Chinese that wanted to immigrate to the U.S. to acquire the gold, melt it, and return to China. So many Chinese immigrated to California that the U.S. made a law to stop the Chinese from becoming a U.S. citizen, so they could stop taking the gold. Gold Rush forever changed peoples thoughts about California geographically.
