Fargory Ocean Park
You can go and see Dolphins shows and fly across the oceans. At the aquarium you are able to ride in a cable car. Kids love going here and love doing rides. Sometimes you could get mini parades showing.
Fulong Beach
The sands there are golden, which is rare in Taiwan. Nearby is a camping site named Longmen. This beach is a favorite in the summer for people living in northern Taiwan.
Wufeng Lin Family Mansion and Garden
Wùfēng Lín Jiāzhái Yuán) is the general name for the former residence and grounds of the Wufeng Lin family (霧峰林家) at its ancestral home in Wufeng District, Taichung, Taiwan. Owing to the great size of the Lin family clan, the site can be divided into two branches, the Upper (頂厝) and Lower (下厝) Houses.
1945
In 1945 Japan formally surrenders on the deck of the U.S. battleship Missouri, ending World War II. Japan begins the process of returning to China all the territories it had colonized, including Taiwan (then called Formosa), which it had acquired in 1895 after the first Sino-Japanese war.
1949
In 1949 After two decades of fighting a bloody civil war, Chinese Communists, led by People's Republic of China (PRC) founder Mao Tse-tung, capture the final pieces of mainland China, and drive Chiang Kai-shek and his Nationalist forces onto Taiwan Mao stresses the importance of eventual unification with Taiwan under a principle of "one China," which will be foundation for the Chinese government's policy on Taiwan for the next 50 years.
1950
In 1950 Korean War begins when Communist forces in North Korea cross into South Korea U.S. President Harry Truman agrees to protect Taiwan against a possible attack from mainland China and sends the Seventh Fleet to patrol the waters between Taiwan and China.
Taiwan Current Event
Taiwan commits to international green initiatives-Tokyo-based Asian Productivity Organization issued a declaration promoting regional collaboration on green economy and sustainable development at the third World Congress on Green Productivity Nov. 4 in Taipei City. Signed by 20 member states, the declaration signifies Asia’s commitment to the global cause of ecological sustainability and will be submitted to the U.N. A total of 80 delegates from around the world attended the congress. APO is one of the few international organizations in which the ROC holds membership in its official name.President Ma Ying-jeou said at the event that although Taiwan is not party to the U.N. Framework Convention on Climate Change nor Kyoto Protocol, the government is working to ensure national standards continue complying with those set by the U.N.
