Second Grade Eagles always SOAR!
Mrs. Van Berkum's Class: Students are working on writing opinions about their favorite books. Students are writing their opinion, reasons for that opinion, and text evidence to support each reason.
Mrs. Willis' Room: Students began fiction book clubs this week. One of the first steps was establishing book club norms and expectations in their small groups.
Mrs. Pudenz’s Room: Students have been studying book series, identifying consistent patterns and character traits, as they prepare for their book series clubs! Students used FlipGrid, a video discussion tool, to record their understanding of a book series and share it with their classmates.
Mrs. Jensen's Room: Students worked together in collaborative engineering groups to design, build, and share a city model. Students used their understanding of forms of water to design a way for a city to get water from a river.
Career Share: Schedule a Classroom Visit for SECOND Semester!
Parental involvement in your child’s classroom is one of the leading factors in raising self-esteem and academic achievement. We want to see you at a Career Share Classroom Visit!
Each of our English Landing families are unique ---with their own talents. Career Share is an opportunity for every child at English Landing to showcase THEIR family to their classmates. Career Share is an amazing opportunity for you to visit our classroom. Your involvement will not only make their day, but provide another opportunity for you to partner with English Landing and your child’s education.
Our goal is to have EVERY student have a member(s) of their family come share in our classroom about their job and careers. It truly means the world to our Eagles.
Please reach out to your child's classroom teacher to set up a time for a Career Share Classroom Visit.

Celebrating Birthdays at English Landing!
Celebrating Student Birthdays: (Park Hill Parent/Student Handbook pages 37-38):
We are happy to celebrate student birthdays and half birthdays (if your child has a summer birthday) at English Landing! To protect the health and safety of our students, families may bring pre-packaged treats to school to share with classmates. In order to address any known allergy concerns, a label listing ingredients should be affixed to the package. Due to allergies and other food intolerances, please consult with your classroom teacher before the pre-packaged treats are brought to school. As a healthier alternative, Park Hill Food Service offers a variety of nutritious treats that may be purchased.
At English Landing we need your HELP! Many birthday treats arrive at the beginning of the school day which provides us time to review the class list regarding food allergies or food intolerances, however, many other birthday treats arrive during lunch and often right at the same time the treat needs to be distributed to students. PLEASE plan on arriving earlier for lunch (at least 15 minutes) to give us time to check the pre-packaged treat ingredients with the students in the classroom who have food allergies or food intolerances. Our school nurse, Mrs. Kimbrel, and office staff, Mrs. Stevens, Mrs. Wood, or Mrs. Scott, will help with this process so when the lunchroom staff teachers distribute the treat in the cafeteria, additional steps have been taken to ensure we are protecting the health and safety of our eagles.
