English Language Arts (ELA)
The kindergarten ELA program is dividing into different components. Below is a description of each component and what your child will be learning the upcoming week.
Unit 5 Week 3
Essential Question: What kinds of things grow on a farm?
Daily Message
This week in Daily Message we will...
- edit the daily message by finding and fixing the errors.
- find the noun and replace it with a pronoun.
- find sight words we have learned in the message.
Word Work
This week in Word Work we will...
- blend word parts to identify and say a word.
- identify and write upper case and lower case Ff and Rr.
- blend words with short I, O, E and A.
- read, write, and spell the high-frequency word “with” and "he."
Shared Reading
This week in Shared Reading we will...
- ask and answer questions about unknown words in a text.
- use new words in speaking and writing.
- retell facts and events of a text.
- use picture clues.
- identify the main topic and key details of a text.
- compare similarities in and differences between two texts on the same topic.
- identify key details in the story.
- reread to find details to help better understand the story.
Grammar/Writing
This week in Grammar/Writing we will...
- share ideas by drawing and writing.
- draw and labeling pictures.
- draw pictures that match spoken contributions.
- identify pronouns.
- write sentence in order that they happen.
Math
Unit 4: Counting and Measurement
This week in math we will...
- review skills in Unit 4 and take the end of unit assessment
- begin unit 5: Geometry

Birthday Celebrations
Birthdays will be celebrated once a month in the classroom. Our designated birthday days are listed below. Children will celebrate with extra recess (3:00-3:30). Parents are invited to join us during this time. Please let me know if you will be attending.
