Principal's Letter
Dear Lake Windward Families,
Welcome back! I hope you had a wonderful spring break. It has been great to see our students and staff back today! I have had some fun conversations with students today about how they spent their time over the break. As I walked the building today, I saw students and teachers back in action, already working hard to close out this school year strong!
Thank you to the parents who have reached out to our PTO board members expressing interest in volunteering for some of our upcoming events. It is not too late to volunteer! Please see more information below. If you are not able to volunteer in the next few weeks, please know our PTO board is recruiting parent volunteers to help for next school year as well! We hope you all can attend our Spring Carnival on April 22nd. Please see the informational flyer below for more information.
Fulton County Schools encourages parents to take the Annual Parent Perception Survey between April 11th and April 22nd. Your answers to this survey will help the district make improvements to our schools. The survey is anonymous and confidential and should take about 25 minutes to complete. Please complete one survey per school where you have one or more students enrolled. Additionally, students in grades 4-12 will take the Annual Student Perception Survey between April 11 and 22nd during the school day. This survey is also anonymous and confidential.
Thank you for your continued partnership with our amazing school!
Kind regards,
Julie Morris

A Note From Our School Social Worker
Attendance Matters ALL DAY, EVERYDAY Excused and unexcused absences easily add up to too much time lost in the classroom, putting students at risk academically. In order for students in Fulton County Schools to learn and achieve to their fullest potential, it is critical that they attend school and are engaged in the learning process. Student absences, whether excused or unexcused, impact a child's ability to succeed in school. Some absences are unavoidable. We understand that during this time of COVID it is important to keep your children home if they are not feeling well. The important thing is to get your children to school as often as possible, on time and to communicate with the school when your child will be absent. Please do not forget to send in a note when your child is absent. This helps the teachers but also helps with coding the absence accordingly.
Please remember that the late bell rings at 7:40. Students need to be in their classroom ready to learn at that time. If you are a car rider, please leave a few minutes earlier in the morning to get your child to school on time. Please consider having your child ride the bus if they are chronically tardy. Lateness causes disruptions in learning, and it has an impact on academic success.
If you need support with improving your child's attendance, please reach out to Kaitlyn Jimenez, School Social Worker by emailing jimenezke@fultonschools.org.
