New Google Meet features coming later this year
Anticipating that many schools will continue this year in hybrid or remote environments, we have worked around the clock to make Google Meet work better for schools. We will be rolling out a multitude of new features for G Suite for Education users that include larger tiled views, background options, and handraising. Additionally, G Suite Enterprise for Education users will be able to access features such as attendance tracking, polling, and breakout rooms.
The latest features in Classroom
As educators and students have transitioned to a virtual learning model, Classroom usage around the world has grown. With this growth comes improvements to help make using Classroom easier for students and educators. Updated features include link-based sharing for adding students to classes and to-do improvements, which help students to prioritize and easily track assignments. Additionally, Classroom is able to sync with eligible student information systems, allowing instructors to directly push grades to their SIS and eliminate duplicative work.
Assignments is now available to all users
Google Assignments is now available to everyone as a core service within G Suite for Education. Assignments, an app for your learning management system (LMS), gives educators a simpler and faster way to analyze, grade, and share student work - all through the power of G Suite. Assignments is compatible with any LMS that supports LTI 1.1 or higher.
Improvements to Originality Reports
Originality reports, available in Classroom and Assignments, help teachers to analyze student work and check for plagiarism and missing citations. Coming soon, users can run up to five originality reports per class for free, as well as save and print reports. Additionally, originality reports will be expanded to other languages and are available in Spanish, Portuguese, Norwegian, Swedish, French, and Italian. G Suite Enterprise for Education customers will have the ability to make matches between student submissions within your domain, allowing users to see school matches in addition to web and book matches.
