Guyer High School Pals

The Guyer High School PALs (Peer Assistant Leadership) program is up and running for the 2019-2020 school year and we, again, have a FANTASTIC group at Blanton!

The PALs are junior and senior students at Guyer High School who positively represent their school and strive to be a positive influence in the lives of others. They have demonstrated the potential to be great listeners, and are trustworthy, empathetic, caring, and responsible.

The program is based on the belief that students can make a significant change in the lives of others by helping other students to have a more optimistic outlook and therefore make a definite impact on our district and community. PAL students will provide both individual and group support to help others make informed and responsible decisions, improve behavior and school attendance, and most importantly provide a listening ear.

Dot Day

The arts are an essential part of a complete education, no matter if it happens in the home, school, or community. Students of all ages—from kindergarten to college to creative aging programs—benefit from artistic learning, innovative thinking, and creativity. Celebrating National Arts in Education Week is a way to recognize this impact and share the message with friends, family, and communities. We think it is important to recognize and celebrate the importance of the arts in our students' lives”

Dot Day

On September 13th we celebrated International Dot Day inspired by the book “The Dot” by Peter Reynolds. Dot Day is a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration. In art students will discuss their different strengths and how they will

leave their “Dot” or their positive mark on the world. Dot Day was celebrated all week

throughout the school.

Parent Connection - Student-Led Conferences

Our next Parent Connection meeting will be on Monday, September 23rd from 8:00-8:45am in the cafeteria. We will cover student-led conferences and what you can expect to see from your student.

Stream Clean

Please Join Blanton in this years Stream Clean!

You can make a difference in our community by volunteering for Stream Clean, an annual event that improves the appearance of our city and impacts our quality of life by targeting specific waterways in and around Denton. When litter makes its way into our storm drains and drainage ditches, it doesn't stop there - it ends up in our lakes, streams, and rivers.

Please view the link below and print out a waiver for you and your child. Please return these to Mrs. Gray NO LATER THAN September 18th. Parents MUST be present during the entire activity and must have a waiver to participate. Mrs. Gray will pick up shirts and pass them out prior to October 5th.

Stream Clean

There are lots of ways to make a difference in the Denton area. Here are some options for community service and volunteering options.

No Parking at Madison and Juniper Entrances

Please remember that the entrances to these two neighborhoods are no parking or standing zones. Please help our students to be safe as they are walking home by meeting your children at the park or parking on other streets in those neighborhoods. We appreciate all our parents are doing to help keep our students safe as they are walking home.
