Brownie Banter

News for Brownie Troop 8023

My How Time Flies!

It's hard to believe we're already two months in to a new year with Brownies! We hope the 2012-13 year is an exciting, educational and fun one for the girls!

During our first Troop meeting on October 6, we talked about how Brownies got their names. We also discussed ways we can help the community and the girls made some suggestions. We have a troop of bright young ladies with warm hearts and their ideas were outstanding! The girls also wrote letters to their future selves about what they hope to accomplish during the year. At our final meeting, they will open and read over their letters and see just how much they did throughout the year.

During our second October troop meeting, we went "on the road" and visited the pumpkin patch at Christ United Methodist Church. The girls participated in a Pumpkin Patch Scavenger Hunt and they each got to pick out a small pumpkin. They also earned the "Making Games" patch by taking a classic "Pin The --" game and adding new rules. Our girls once again showed off their creative sides!

This month, our Daisy Scouts officially "bridged" to Brownies. We had a special little ceremony with the help of our 3rd grade Brownies Drew, Brynn and Alexis. The girls made a rainbow craft and decorated their Brownie backpacks that will carry their Brownie passports.

Mark Your Calendars for a Busy December!

Now that we've got everything finalized and officially filed with the Council, we're ready to start planning lots of GREAT activities for our troop. Pull out those December calendars and get ready to reserve some dates because there is a lot of fun ahead!

Some of the events coming up are for our entire troop. That means Marla and I have organized and planned the outing. Others are Council-wide events that the troop won't do as a whole, but you are welcome to register, pay for and attend yourself.
