Welcome Back Edition - 2022-2023
Principal's Post
My name is Carla Molnar and I am starting my first year as principal at Copopa! I feel extremely lucky and excited to hold this position and work with all the wonderful students, staff, and families at Columbia.
On behalf of our wonderful team here at Copopa, we'd like to welcome you back as we get ready to kick off the start of another school year. The first day for grades grades 1-4 is on Wednesday, August 31. Kindergarten will start the new year on September 8.
Communication is vital to the success of any relationship. We here at Copopa cannot be successful without the help of the community. Please reach out to us if you have any questions or concerns. Most of the information that goes home is through email, so if you are not receiving emails, please contact the office to make sure we have the correct email on file.

New Staff at Copopa
We welcome Lauren Monahan to our staff as a third grade teacher. We added a fourth teacher in the 3rd grade due to increased enrollment. She has experience in 5th grade and as an Intervention Specialist at Maple Heights Schools. She resides in Strongsville.
Sarah Sabino joins us in the third grade replacing Dilini Peiris who has taken a leave of absence. Sarah has three years of experience in North Olmsted as a Title I tutor and a third grade teacher. She lives in North Olmsted.
We welcome Kelly Trehern as a Speech/Language Pathologist. Kelly has eight years of experience at the Brunswick City Schools and lives in Medina. Kelly replaces Taylor Leube who has taken another position.

Copopa School Day
8:10 am: Students dismissed from buses and cars
8:20 am: Morning announcements begin
8:30 am: Classes begin
3:20 pm: Car riders dismissed
3:30 pm: Bus riders dismissed
Drop-Off: Students not riding the bus must be dropped off and picked up at the designated spot along the west sidewalk of the Copopa Elementary building. Please make sure to follow the drop-off and pick-up traffic patterns and go through the car rider line. Parents are not permitted out of their cars during drop-off. This is for the safety of all students and staff. No students are to be dropped off prior to 8:10 a.m.
Pick-Up: If you are planning on picking up your child after school please send a note with your child to school or call our office. If it is a last minute pick-up, please contact the Copopa office at 440-236-5020 no later than 3:00 p.m. We will add the child's name to the car rider list. There is no need to come into the office to sign-out your child. We will ask you to come to the front door to show identification if this is your first time picking up your child. We use the same traffic pattern for pick-up at we do for morning drop-off. Parents are not permitted out of their cars during pick-up. This is for the safety of all students and staff.
Breakfast: Students eating breakfast will be dismissed from buses and cars at 8:00 a.m. to go to the cafeteria. Breakfast is from 8:00 a.m. - 8:20 a.m.
Attendance Policy
The following reasons are considered excused absences: illness of the student, death in the family, planned absences (form completed), quarantine of the home.
State law requires us to verify an absence if we do not hear from you. Therefore if you do not call to report your child's absence, we will be calling you.
OneView
OneView is our online registration program for families to update and complete Emergency Medical Authorizations and Chromebook user forms. Please make sure to login and complete the paperwork for your student by August 31st. All families must complete and update their information in OneView.
Currently, all athletes, marching band members as well as members of the Color Guard should have physicals and all other athletic documents uploaded to the system. Later in mid August back to school forms will be available. You can access the OneView platform by clicking on this link.
Free and Reduced Lunch Applications
- Student Breakfast $2.00
- Student Lunch $3.50
- Milk $0.55
Families may add money to their Pay School account to cover meal costs and extras.
Families are also invited to apply for Free and /or Reduced Meals. By applying for Free and Reduced lunch benefits, families may be eligible for SAT, ACT, and AP exam waivers, and have school and athletic fees reduced or waived. Additionally, families may become eligible for assistance with medical, housing, and utilities. You can access the application by clicking on this link .
