Ripon Cathedral School Update
Week ending Friday 26th May 2023
Inspired art by Year 6
Year 1 Multi Skills Festival
Year 1 had a fantastic day on Wednesday at Outwood, where we took part in a multi-sports tournament. We walked up to Outwood and then were split into three different teams representing Ripon Cathedral ready to compete against other local primary schools. Each team competed in 15 different sporting events including: jumping, running, balancing, throwing and catching. At the end of the event, we were announced champions for 5 out of the 15 events. Elliott, Betsy and Natasza were also chosen for showing great sportsmanship over the course of the morning, they each received a special wristband. All the children did a wonderful job of representing our school and had great fun whilst doing it!

Reception wave farewell to Forest School
What a wonderful time the children in Reception have had at Forest School this year. They have learnt to recognise changes in the natural environment as we pass through each of the seasons, and they have learnt to appreciate and respect their surroundings. All the children have shown an excellent regard for their own safety and the safety of others when using tools or cooking at the fire pit.
The sun was shining for the final session of the year, as the children printed natural materials onto fabric to create fantastic flags, and what better way to finish than with some delicious, toasted marshmallows on whittled sticks.
We are very grateful to the Forest School team for giving the children such valuable and memorable experiences. THANK YOU!
Slip Slap Slop - keeping safe in the sun
To help protect the children when they are outside in the sunshine, we do ask that they are sent to school wearing sun screen. We do recommend the use of all day sun cream. If children are sent with cream they should be able to apply it independently from Year 1 onwards. It is a good idea for children to bring a suitable hat as well to wear during breaks and PE sessions.
Times Tables Rockstars Day
On Friday 9th June we will be having a celebration event and all children can come into school dressed as a 'Rock Star!' (Jeans and t-shirt, bright clothes etc).
We are sure that we will have a fantastic time learning our mathematic facts.
Stars of the Week
Jensen is new to nursery, and he has been given star of the week because he has settled in so well, made friends and is now independently exploring the provision.
Hetty for her brilliant investigative skills with our magnets. Your enthusiasm for learning is a joy!
Isla for her amazing effort with her reading and always being a wonderful friend to all.
Stanley for trying his best with our songs for the production and being an excellent role model to Reception and Year 1.
Boaz for being a ray of sunshine in school and a role model to others, showing compassion and kindness.
Olivia for showing a fantastic 'can do' attitude to her learning and for taking every opportunity to improve
Isla for a wonderful week and a super effort in all aspects of school life.
Layla for working hard to write a great explanation text thinking carefully about the processes involved.
