Big picture
OCES will continue selling Valentine Grams for .25 each. We will be creating a wall of kindness on the windows on the stage in the cafeteria. Students may purchase a "heart" for .25 each to write a kind/encouraging message for a friend. Students will stick the message under the recipient's homeroom teacher's name on the glass wall in the cafeteria for all to see. Valentines will be sold on Feb 5, 8, 9, and 10 from 7:10-7:30 in the morning on the stage. Proceeds for this will go to the OCES Helping Hands committee.

February is Black History Month

Black History BINGO

One way we are celebrating Black History Month is through BINGO. Cards were placed in Friday Folders! Here are some reminders:

  • Activities done in class (ie Read alouds, research projects, class discussions, etc) can be included on the BINGO card as well as activities done outside of school.
  • Students who submit completed BINGO cards will be entered into a drawing to receive a MYSTERY PRIZE!

Consider watching and listening to one of the following read alouds:

WriteScore Testing

Third-fifth grade students will participate in the WriteScore assessment on Tuesday, February 9th. This time, students will complete the narrative assessment. Please help us ensure that the students have enough rest and are ready to show their best. DL students will receive their ID number by email on Tuesday morning. An email will also be sent with directions and guidance on how to navigate the platform.

We are making a change with our ice creams sales. Ice Cream will be sold on Wednesdays only.

Happy Birthday to Cill White on February 12, Amy Waddell on February 13, and Levi Brooks on February 14!!
