However, the basketball season did not go as expected. After the season ended, things began to take a turn for the worst. Something unimaginable happened. In early March, I did not know those would be my last days as a senior/student at South Florence High School. The impact of Covid-19 has truly been effective in stripping seniors of the chance to attend senior prom, the senior trip, and a traditional graduation; however, this is not the end.
One thing South Florence has helped me understand is that adversity can be overcome, which is why times like these are blessings in disguise. With that being said, I would like to thank South Florence for all that it has done for me! Also, I would like to say that I am truly grateful and soon to be a proud Alumni!
Mary Glick, West Florence High School
Students in Kim Cimney's class at West Florence read Shakespeare's Hamlet, and they wrote their own "soliloquies" about themselves, their lives, their futures, accompanied by a selfie.
Philoso-selfie Soliloquy
She bares a sweatshirt to her future college, which she hopes will start on time this year.
Her eyes are wide with hope for an end to the global crisis. She didn’t know that Friday would be the last day with her fellow classmates, and the last day on the soccer field.
She spent her last day at work merchandising the store, just for no customers to see it.
Without the support of her family around these times would be a lot more tough. She visits her family at the beach as much as she can, staying six feet away to fend off the possible virus.
She loves ordering things online to distract the quarantine, and decorating her room to be comfortable while on lock down.
The University of South Carolina is in her future, majoring in biology to become a pediatrician someday.
-- I miss my classmates, but I am excited to see what the future has in store.

This pandemic has shown me so much, and it has taught me things that I had not realized before--such as how busy I have been (prior to the pandemic). Now that it seems I have nothing but time, I can focus on myself, my personal relationships, and my spiritual relationship with the man above.
COVID-19 has been one heck of any eye opener! It has shown me that everything will not always be convenient and a lot of things will not be right there as you need it all the time. Emotionally, this time off has taught me that now, more than ever, to hold myself together even when I feel like things are rocky.

This pandemic has destroyed all that I built up in the last few years. I am a senior, graduating early, and I am missing out on several experiences that I have dreamed of. My final year of competitive dance has prematurely ended, my last show at my community theatre has been indefinitely postponed, my senior experiences have been cancelled, and my excitement for college has been dampened.
I was accepted into my dream college, New York University (NYU) and I have to deal with the fact that I may not be able to attend this coming fall, which is devastating. I have waited since I was eight years old to attend NYU and live out my dreams of studying musical theatre, but it may not happen.
Although I am known for my patient demeanor, this never-ending waiting game due to the pandemic has me very frustrated and upset. My senior year should have been filled with amazing experiences and memories, and in a matter of minutes, it all changed.
