Quarterly Newsletter October 2015 ~ Inaugural Edition
What Is Fastpacs?
Our mission at Frisco Fastpacs is simple. We want to ensure that no child in Frisco has to endure hunger when school is not in session. Caring for kids, one pack at a time. Every week throughout the school year, we deliver individual pre-packed bags to FISD schools that include enough food for 7 meals for each qualifying child for them to eat over the weekend at home. We can only accomplish this mission with your help and the help of others. Along with donations, we are always looking for volunteers who have a servant’s heart and who want to impact and make a difference in the community. Frisco Fastpacs is based solely on donations of food & funds.
Letter From Our President
A Note From Marian
I’ve spent weeks thinking about what I would write in our inaugural newsletter and how I could possibly express my gratitude. I finally decided that I can’t. There is no possible way to convey just how thankful I am or how fortunate I feel to be a part of this organization.
This journey began during Lent of 2013 with fasting and prayer. I had absolutely no idea where that very intentional practice would lead and things quickly began to take shape over the course of that Spring and Summer when Fastpacs was born. If I had allowed myself to dream as big as I could possibly have dreamed, I would never have imagined being where we are today.
Our very first pack was in my living room in August, 2013, and in September of that year we made our first delivery to 35 children in one school. As I write this letter we are serving almost 700 children in over 30 schools in Frisco ISD every week! That means 700 children who have little to nothing to eat over the weekend are being fed. It also means that when those 700 children show up to school on Monday mornings, they are focused and alert and ready for a new week of learning.
I look back over the past two years with complete awe and gratitude at what we have accomplished. What WE have accomplished! It’s the people I am most grateful for. The people who show up time after time after time. Literally hundreds of volunteers make this possible every week and I want to say a very heartfelt thank you to each and every single one.
I’m learning to dream bigger now and we have some big plans for our future, and for helping even more children in more ways. I hope you will all continue to be a part of this journey and invite others to join us.
Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much. Helen Keller
With much love and gratitude,
Marian

Host A Food Drive & Give Back
Host A Food Drive
Help us end hunger in Frisco!
Do you have an organization, sports team or group that wants to give back?
We invite you to host a food drive within your personal circles of life or business. Collect the items that we pack and then we can pick these up from your location or we can schedule a time for you to tour our warehouse and bring them to stock our shelves. You can specify any of our requested food items, or focus on one or two for simplicity. For example, your drive can collect canned vegetables and fruits only. Also encourage monetary gifts as well!
Collect and PACK
Collect the items that go in each weekend meal bag and then your group together packs complete bags. We will help tell you what goes in each bag. This is fun for kids of all ages!
Birthday Party
We have been overwhelmed by those who want to collect donations in lieu of their own birthday party gifts. Children feeding children is a wonderful blessing.
Scout Troops
Work on your next troop badge and help Fastpacs!

Then those who are righteous will reply to him, 'Lord when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink?' Then the king will reply to them, 'I assure you that when you have done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you have done it for me.'
