On the Trail - Mustang Families
Sept. 27 - Oct. 1 ---- Homecoming Week and almost end term1
Nearing the end of the term
WASC Update:
WASC went well with some great feedback as to our strengths and growth areas.
Thank you to everyone on staff, parents/guardians, students and of course our amazing WASC lead, Stacy Antonopoulos for the contributions.
In 2 months we will get the results but we believe they will be positive ones and validate the amazing things that we do for our Mustangs and as a school community.
Culture Climate:
We are still having some damage in our bathrooms and incidents after the Tik Tok challenge and maybe a few leftover unsolved issues between students but still looking up.
We encourage parents/guardians and staff with Instagram to find the falsified MTHS posts - like the ones about our trashcans, bathroom destruction, etc and report them so IG will take them down.
Unfortunately, a select few students are finding it entertaining to destroy property or behave inappropriately which is making it hard to keep all bathrooms open for students throughout the day. This is not ok and does not represent what it is to be a Mustang.
We aren't done working on school culture and climate as a whole school effort.
Remember to encourage the students to use the referrals for conflict mediation, the anonymous incident reporting button on our website or speak to an adult if there is a concern. If you see or hear something, say something.
Let's keep up the intentional work and stay vigilant, keep up those conversations and life lessons in order to continue to make even more progress towards the Community that is ONE TRAIL!
End of term:
This week is homecoming week already! We are excited for that.
It is also the second to last week of the term.
Students need to do their best and communicate with teachers to find out what to do to improve. Put in 100% efforts, attend tutoring, ask for help and do your part. We won't give up on you but make sure you don't give up either. Start with being on time, respecting the teachers and being a confident active participant in class while having the integrity to put in the effort and do your own work. The efforts will pay off.
You can do it!
Participate in dress up days and get that work done to be able to attend events.
That will make homecoming week even more exciting.
Note: There are some special schedules coming including Finals Days, Oct. 7, 8 and for the first days of the term 2. More info is below in this newsletter after This week on the Trail
Let's finish term 1 strong Mustangs!
Go Mustangs!

New and Important Safety Protocols at Football Games in all of EGUSD
NO BACKPACKS or track bags allowed in stadium and more...
Secondary Education and high school and middle school principals met this week regarding football games in EGUSD. As a reminder, we would like to review best practices to keep our games safe and manageable. These practices include:
- NO backpacks will be allowed.
- Attendees are expected to sit in the stands and watch the game.
- Middle school students should be accompanied by an adult, and have their student i.d. This includes Jr. Mustangs.
- There will be no in and out allowed at the stadium.
This will be consistent at all HS Football games in EGUSD and is not only at MTHS.
Thank you for your time, and for supporting our great football teams!
COVID
Daily to protocols:
- Wear Masks indoors - mandatory regardless of vaccination status
- Hand wash and sanitize often - entrance/exit of rooms
- Have up to date daily seating charts/group charts, and accurate attendance records - this matters so much
- Do not come to school if you have symptoms - staff contact admin and students/families contact the school for admin to then follow protocols directed by nurses in contact with the county and health authorities
- Recommended wear masks in large groups outdoors - our lunch and passing periods for example
- Help remind students of the protocols as you pass by and in your classrooms/offices, etc.
Conflict Mediation - refer someone else or self refer
Struggling students? Reporting incidents or concerns
- refer students in "drama" or in "need" to conflict mediation
- seek help by connecting with counselors or admin as needed
- talk to a trusted adult
Students can self refer to conflict mediation as well. See Ramie Gallagher for more details.
Remind students of our Anonymous Incident Reporting system on our website. It allows for anonymous reporting of bullying, self harm, violence, harassment and more. If the person allows us, we can also communicate two way to get additional details while they still remain anonymous if they choose.

In case you missed it in the past:
If you missed the restroom policy last newsletter:
Students are now able to remain in class for the whole class period.
When are restrooms open and which ones are open:
Before school (only gym/HD)
passing periods, lunch, minimal during class time for emergency use (HK, HM, HD/gym)
Use the one closest to your class - no excuse for tardiness
When are restrooms closed:
First 15 minutes of class and last 15 minutes of class ALL periods and after school (reopens for ASSETs after the program is well under way)
Minimal use of restrooms at other times for emergency needs only to help students and teachers with the teaching/learning process
When a problem occurs that requires closure (Respect the Trail to help avoid this)
What is required to be able to use the bathroom if emergency in class time:
Bathroom pass - teacher has a lanyard that must be visible for staff to see
Students will be sent back to class if this is not visible - no paper passes allowed for restroom use
Only 1 student from a class at a time (even if someone else takes too long)
You must sign out and in on a classroom log AND at the bathrooms for contact tracing
