Welcome Back!!
Meet the counselors...
Ms. Harrell
My name is Kathy Harrell. I am happy to introduce myself as the 10th and 11th grade counselor at Pickens High School.
I received my undergraduate and M.Ed. in School Counseling from Valdosta State University. I have counseled at all three school levels; elementary, middle, and high school.
I have three wonderful children; Geoffrey, Matthew, and Lauren. I truly enjoy my role as a school counselor; encouraging students to strive for their personal best and being able to make a difference in their lives gives me great sense of purpose and pleasure.
Please do not hesitate to contact me for assistance. Wishing everyone a great 2015-2016 school year!

Welcome Class of 2019 - Freshmen
Kudos to all the parents who came out for the 9th grade open house. Supporting your ninth grader is a big deal, and sometimes just showing up is half the battle.
Thanks to all 270 parents and students who signed up for the ninth grade counseling department text blasts. Remind is a safe way for educators to send texts to students and parents while protecting everyone's information. If you did not sign up and want to be in the loop please follow these steps:
To receive messages via text, text @phsclass19 to 81010. Trouble using 81010? Try texting @phsclass19 to (706) 534-6994 instead.

Welcome Class of 2018 & 2017 - Sophomore & Junior
Being a successful student involves many different things.
Show up! Attendance is crucial to high school success. You cannot learn if you are not here.
Get plenty of rest.
Complete all classwork, homework, and study often.
Get help if needed. Pickens High School offers plenty of options for free tutoring.
If you haven't already done so, get involved! We have numerous clubs, activities, and sports to help enhance your high school experience.
Challenge yourself and don't compare your academic strengths or weaknesses to your classmates. Do the best you can with what you have!
Don't fall behind. It's easy to drop your GPA, and very difficult to raise it.
Take the PSAT in the fall. The PSAT is excellent practice for taking the SAT.
Announcements:
All 10th grade students will be taking the PSAT at Chattahoochee Technical
School. The results will be given out to students in December. Advisers will be
handing out practice booklets during the first week of October.
