Beta

BGJHS Jr. Beta is partnering with the BGHS Beta Club for their service project, Books for a Bright Future.

We are currently holding a book drive to benefit the entire BGISD. The goal is to collect over 2021 new or gently used books (appropriate for ages of preschoolers to high schoolers) in the spring semester of 2021.

Beta students can check google classroom for details on how to earn beta club service hours, but any and all students are welcome to donate new or gently used books.

The drop off location at BGJHS is in the breezeway at the front entrance.

Super Saturdays

Big picture

Virtual Winter Super Saturdays is open for registration, and we have 9 classes for children in grades 1-6 that feature the minds-on, hands-on learning for which The Center for Gifted Studies is known.

Since classes are offered online, anyone can join no matter where they’re located. As one past participant said, “Super Saturdays allows me to work with other kids who think like me but differently from me too. It helps me grow.”

Register here: https://gifted-studies.com/wss21

Super Saturday 6th Grade

8) How to Beat Up a Bacteria: Introduction to Infections and Cures, grades 5 & 6, Matthew Howell - Everyone has been given a firsthand look at science and history during this pandemic - what better time to explore the microscopic world that lives in and around us? We’ll do a deep dive into looking at bacteria, viruses, and fungi as well as getting a basic understanding of the cells in our own bodies. We’ll meet the “Bullies” (bacteria, viruses, and fungi can make us sick and how to know the differences), “Fighting Back” (how our bodies fight invaders), and “the Reinforcements” (things humans have created to help us beat infections, and some cool futuristic solutions). Heads up: gross images will be shown in this class! For class you will need a device that can take pictures and digitally share them (Camera phone, tablet, digital camera, etc.) Also a second internet connected device would be handy for live online games, but is not required.
