ECHO
A Monthly Resource for Teaching the Faith 6.22
"Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament is the Living Heart of each of our parishes.” Blessed Paul VI
June 19, Corpus Christi Sunday, is the beginning of a three-year Eucharistic Revival in our diocese and across the country! How can this Revival make a positive impact on how you catechize those you serve? Click on the link below to learn more about the National Eucharistic Revival! You will also see we have added a new monthly column to ECHO. This column will share opportunities to catechize children and adults on the Eucharist and the Mass. Every month, you will find a new resource. Additional resources are available in our Catechist Google Drive and through our lending library at the Office of Evangelization and Catechesis. Your faith formation director can help link you to these resources!
Shaped by the Source and Summit
A recent book by Cardinal Blase Cupich, entitled Take, Bless, Break, and Share, focuses on a strategy for a Eucharistic revival. In the book, Cardinal Cupich shares: "The essential starting point for developing a strategy designed to support a Eucharistic revival in our Church must be the needs of Catholics today. Context is key. Those involved in catechesis and faith formation should make every effort to avoid an ahistorical presentation of the Eucharist that is disconnected from daily life."
Spend some time reflecting on your participation in worship. How has your own participation in Eucharistic worship been a necessary part of your life? What is it in your own daily life, that is fed, healed and enhanced by your worshiping life? How can you share your story with those you serve and help them to see the need they have for worship in their lives? Much of our role as catechists is sharing our own personal witness of the faith journey we are on!
Each month we will share a helpful resource for teaching about the Eucharist. Check out this resource from Sadlier publishing on teaching the Mass:

JUNE Catechetical Highlights:
Scripture Pop Up
Plastic Bottle Craft
Reuse plastic bottles and teach environmental stewardship at the same time! Try making these seek and find fish or come up with an animal that matches your theme to incorporate this fun project into VBS!
Are you a VBS Mentor?
Many of you will help with your parish VBS this summer, alongside a likely large number of parish teens! This is a great opportunity for you to form a mentoring role with the teens you are paired with, who will, in turn, become great mentors to our kids! Read this article from Catechist magazine to learn about the impact VBS can have on community building and why it's a big part of catechesis! https://www.catechist.com/community-building-power-vbs/
