COMMUNITY UPDATE
Collins Cubs Celebrations:
What a great week together, Collins CUBS! Wishing you all a great weekend ahead!
GOOO LIONS!
*SAFETY UPDATE* for PARKING!
In the past few weeks, we have had our Security Officer come and visit to ensure safety in our parking lots. We understand parking can be cumbersome in our parking lot and we appreciate your families following the safety rules set in place to keep our students, staff, and families safe. We appreciate you! We also appreciate your kindness towards one another! We love our CUBS showing their PAWS!!🐻
- NO PARKING IN BUS LOOP LANE: Please keep this aisle free and clear for our buses to move through to keep them on schedule for other schools.
- HANDICAP PARKING RESERVED FOR HANDICAP PASSES ONLY. Thank you!
- CROSSING at the CROSS-WALKS: Thank you for following the safety procedures in place to keep our Cubs safely moving towards or away from the building.
- CONES UP FOR SAFETY: We have had to place cones up for no parking as students exit the building and for our maintenance crew to access the locked and gated garbage cans.
OLD BUSINESS ITEMS:
VISITING THE SCHOOL:
- Prior to entering the building for any reason, all visitors that are coming to the school to pick up their child and/or volunteer must show their driver's license to the camera prior to entering our school. This is a district policy that we must begin enforcing.
- Please be sure to buzz the front door and hold up your license prior to being allowed into the building. As this is a safety issue for all, we appreciate your understanding! Thank you for your support!
- Volunteering in a classroom requires a Background Check to be approved and on file. Times to volunteer can be arranged with your child's teacher and their classroom schedule that works best for them. Thank you to ALL our fabulous VOLUNTEERS!!
Wishing you a lovely weekend ahead!! Enjoy the pretty snow!
Warm regards,
Principal Ciacchella
🐾CARING COLLINS CUBS!💗

SUPER CUBS SHOW THEIR P.A.W.S!
P: Positive Choices
A: Act Responsibly
W: Will be Respectful
S: Shows Integrity
All Collins Cubs are expected to follow protocols and procedures while showing their PAWS! That includes inside the classrooms, during the hallways, on the playgrounds, and for arrivial/dismissal as well. Teachers will be on the lookout for ways to celebrate students showing their PAWS and have a chance to earn incentives.
UTICA COMMUNITY SCHOOLS PARENT HANDBOOK FOR BEHAVIORS
Please review all Utica Community Schools behavior policies in the Parent Handbook attached to the link below. It is expected that all UCS policies and procedures will be adhered to at any/all school functions and on school properties. Thank you for your attention to this matter.
SCHOOL SAFETY UPDATE
Safety remains a priority for our school. Collins Elementary is once again providing training to our students on our safety protocols. The protocols identify actions that students may be asked to take in the event of a potential incident: hold, secure, lockdown, evacuate and shelter.
The training is provided through a short, animated video. In the video, the teacher – Mrs. Appleton – and her students walk through the different responses in a very relaxed and engaging way for younger children. The script was written by our staff.
The protocols will continue to be part of the training while practicing our regular school safety drills, such as fire drills, security drills, tornado drills, evacuation procedures, etc.)
The video is available for you to review at this link: UCS School Safety: Standard Response Protocol - Elementary - YouTube If you have any questions, please contact our office.
