Collecting Retro Games

My start into the late 80's gaming community.

How did I get into it?

In my discovery of Newgrounds, I have stumbled across an expert animator with an alter ego of Egoraptor. His shows consisted of gaming cliches and comedic influences through NES and Super NES games he and many others have grown up with. With nostalgic game-play flaws, to memorable characters, he has been making his shows for 11 years now. Upon following his animations for about a year and a half, he has started making a new type of show he calls Sequelitis. In these shorts he explains what made games good; then he compared their sequel counterparts. This inspired me to get into collecting retro games.

Another Big Influence: Game Grumps

Game Grumps

In the summer of 2012 Egoraptor and his friend, Jontron started a channel called Game Grumps. They have been playing old retro games on their channel and debating different appeals and flaws of the games (and games similar) that they play. It's mostly for comedic purposes but their ambitions for starting the channel are true.

Games that Game grumps plays:

  • Kirby Superstar
  • A Link to the Past
  • Megaman 7
  • Goof Troop
  • Pokemon Emerald
  • Secret of Mana
  • Banjo Kazooie
  • Super Mario Bros. Wii
  • Super Smash Bros. Brawl
  • Animal Crossing City Folk
  • Zombies ate my Neighbors
  • Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse
  • Yoshi's Island
  • Legend of the Mystical Ninja

What are the systems?

Where am i at Now?

With the help of many gaming stores, friends and online markets, I have amassed over 50 games differing from NES, Super Nintendo, and N64. I hope to achieve a better number in the future.
