Science Ficton
Science fiction is a genre that deals with imaginative things like futuristic technology, utopian and dystopian societies, ti
me and space travel. Authors usually write to talk about consequences like technology gone wrong.
Fantasy
Fantasy is a genre about imaginary things or impossible things that can not happen. Some fantasy novels take place in different worlds. For example the Harry Potter series has wands, spells, and magical creatures. It even has a secret train, and the only way to get to it is to walk threw a wall.
Romance
A romance novel is a book where the whole story is about two people who are in love. There are usually issues with love triangles, forbidden love, and a sacrifice.
Some book examples are- Isla and Happily Ever After, Ugly Love, Rival and One More Chance.
Autobiography
Autobiography- a book that is about a persons life and is written by that person it’s usually in first person ( I, me, I said)
Some book examples are Hope Solo, my Story, by Hope Solo The Diary of a Young Girl by Anne Frank (or The Diary of Anne Frank)
Biography
The genre Biography is a written history of someone's life that is written by someone else. For example, you can find many biographies about famous presidents and people like Abraham Lincoln.
Memoir
A memoir is a genre that is like a shorter version of an Autobiography. A memoir is based on a specific type of an event written by the person who experienced the event. Instead of writing the story of their life, they write about a small portion of their life.
Thriller
Thriller- it’s a broad genre and most authors that write thriller books use suspense, tension, excitement and surprises to frighten you at an unexpected time.
Some books examples are- Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn, Angels and Demons, by Dan Brown, and Prey by Michael Crichton
Mystery
A mystery novel is a fiction story when a person (like a detective) solves a mystery or suspicious event (like a crime).
Adventure
Humor
The main goal of this genre is to make the reader laugh. Often combined with other elements such as romance and action/adventure. Austin Powers and Men In Black are examples of humor. Humor is usually a work of fiction in which the writer seeks to amuse the reader, sometimes with subtlety and as part of a carefully woven narrative, sometimes above all other considerations. It could indeed be said that comedy fiction is literary work that aims primarily to provoke laughter, but this isn't always as obvious as it first may seem.
Realistic Fiction
Writing that reflects life as it could be lived today.
a realistic fiction story could happen to real people living in today’s natural physical world. Realistic fiction is a genre consisting of stories that could have actually occurred to people or animals in a believable setting. These stories resemble real life, and fictional characters within these stories react similarly to real people.
Historical Fiction
Historical Fiction is when the story takes place in the past, and it has fictional characters or imaginative ideas in them.
