Parent Engagement at West Central
November is Parent Engagement Month, and we want you to know that we value your participation in your child's education at West Central. Thank you for sharing your children with us each day!
Please welcome Mrs. Ida Silva to the West Central staff! She is our new parent mentor, and she is here to assist you in any way possible. She may be reached by calling the school at 706-235-8836 or by email at idamorales.silva@rcs.rome.ga.us.
Trust-Based Relational Intervention: An Introduction for Parents
Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), is an attachment-based, trauma-informed intervention that is designed to meet the complex needs of children. TBRI uses Empowering Principles to address physical and environmental needs, Connecting Principles for attachment needs and engagement, and Correcting Principles to disarm fear-based behaviors. While the intervention is based on years of attachment, sensory processing, and neuroscience research, the heartbeat of TBRI is connection.
We are using many of the TBRI strategies with our students at West Central, and we want you to know about them, too. Please join us in the media center for this important training. A translator will be available. If you need childcare, please contact Mrs. Uldrick at juldrick@rcs.rome.ga.us or 706-235-8836.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!
Our very first PTO fundraiser was a huge success! Together, our students sold $13,260.50 worth of items. Our PTO will use the money that we profit from those sales to provide additional activities for recess for our students. Pictured below are our top sales winners from each grade level. Thank you all for participating!
Progress reports will go home on Thursday, November 18!
At West Central Elementary, we do things the RCS Way! We are Ready to Learn, Courteous, and Safe!
At West Central, we reward students when they meet school-wide expectations and demonstrate the RCS Way with behavior points using a program called PBIS Rewards. Students may use those points for immediate rewards or may save them for grade-level or school-wide PBIS celebrations. Our next PBIS celebration will take place on Thursday, December 16, and students must have 100 points in order to attend. Check-in with your child to see how close they are to meeting that goal!
