On March 16th from 6:30-8pm, RMHS counseling department along with eight area high schools is hosting the Annual College and Career Fair in the RMHS field house. All students and caregivers are encouraged to attend. There will be 100 colleges, military, and 10 career training/job opportunities represented. The fair is open to all students but we strongly encourage juniors to attend as well as seniors still exploring their options. Do you have a child that is interested in cosmetology, court reporting, becoming a personal trainer, , EMT/paramedic training, or working in construction? Executive Functioning Course @ RMHS
RMHS has developed an Executive Functioning (EF) 9-week course that meets during Tuesday flex blocks. The final EF course for the school year will take place from March 21 - May 30, 2023.There are a limited number of seats available for the course, due to the number of staff trained in the curriculum. The EF course will be open to all grades. Instructors for the course are RMHS teachers trained in the S.M.A.R.T.S. curriculum. Instructors select appropriate lessons from the S.M.A.R.T.S. curriculum each lesson based on student needs. Please see the attached explanation of topics covered: EF Curriculum Overview (support during Flex).
If you would like to enroll your child in this skills class please complete the following Google form, which will remain open until March 15, 2023. Since there is no means to determine how much demand there will be for this intervention, students will be selected for the EF course based on demonstrated need (ex. Grades, reasons provided in google form by parents / guardians, etc.)

CREDIT FOR LIFE FAIR- JUNIOR CLASS
On April 11th, Reading Cooperative Bank will collaborate with Reading Memorial High School to host a Credit for Life Fair for the Junior Class. It will be held in the Field House from 9:00 -10:30 a.m.
This fair will be a simulation of an adult’s financial life that allows participants the experience of making financial decisions and managing money. Students will have the opportunity to see what it is like to manage an account, make money-related decisions, obtain a loan, manage debt, and much more. This can be an eye-opening, exciting, and fun way to build financial knowledge and skills.
There will be several booths and checkpoints at the fair including Credit Counseling, Charitable Giving, Education & Training, Food & Nutrition, Health & Wellness, Housing, Lifestyle, Part-Time Jobs, Planning for the Future, and Transportation.
Juniors will need to bring an electronic device to the fair to access either the app or interactive website: https://www.creditforlife.org/. If using the app, students should download it ahead of the fair to save time. Further instructions will be sent out closer to the fair which will include a unique code for RMHS necessary to download the app.
Sincerely,
Judith A. Langill
Reading Cooperative Bank Education Coordinator & Branch Manager at RMHS

Assistant Principal

Attention Senior Parents- Senior Exam Exemptions:
We will need to hold true to our handbook about senior exams. We apologize for any confusion.
The handbook policy will remain:
Seniors who earn an average of at least a B through the end of 3rd quarter(83-86), and have been absent less than 6 days during second semester will be exempt from taking the final assessment.
The only absences that will be considered excused for the purposes of exam exemption include illnesses, bereavement, field trips, school-sponsored exam (for example, AP exam) or extreme personal circumstances if verified and approved by administration.
For a yearly class, the average of quarters 1, 2, & 3 + Midterms will be calculated, and for a semester two class, it will mean the average of quarter 3.
If students are enrolled in an AP course, they are not exempt from an exam. They must either take the AP exam or final exam for the course.
Seniors who are completing an internship will not be required to take final exams.
Thank you for your patience!

RMHS TRAVELS TO SPAIN
From February 18 - March 4, 15 RMHS students traveled to Madrid, Spain for an exchange trip with Señora Pray and Señor Ryan. While there, students stayed with host families, spoke a ton of Spanish, attended classes with their counterparts who came to Reading last September, ate a ton of different tapas, and visited the cities of Madrid, Toledo, Segovia, Granada, Sevilla, and Málaga.
Some highlights of the trip were the Palacio Real, seeing a Roman Aqueduct that was used from 98 to 117 CE, learning how to make paella and gazpacho, observing how swords are made, taking a high-speed train from Madrid to Seville that travels at over 200 mph, touring castles, and going to la Alhambra, which is one of the best-preserved Islamic complexes dating all the way back to the 12th century. We can't wait for the next trip in 2025! ¡Lo pasaremos muy bien!

A HUGE SHOUTOUT TO OUR AMAZING AND GENEROUS FAMILIES AT RMHS!!!! The stocking of the teachers lounges happened on Wednesday and it was a HUGE success. We forgot to take pictures as we went but here is a picture at Alexis' house before we packed our cars. The teachers were SO HAPPY and we cannot thank you all enough!
DUES CAMPAIGN - Our PTO Dues campaign is a HUGE portion of the funds we are able to use for so many things throughout the school year (Teacher appreciation, Unity Day, funding the library for after school hours and enhancing the library, Homecoming, etc). The campaign runs all year and you can donate at any time either by sending a check into school made out to the RMHS PTO or you can click on the link below and send via PayPal.
