Malachite
The Chemical formula for malachite is "Cu2CO3(OH)2" Malachite comes from the Greek word Molochitus meaning mallows. It is a green that can vary from being a very dark green to a mellow green.
Common or not
Malachite is a common gem that can cost around 30 dollars per pound. It is mostly used in jewlery such as nacklaces, bracelets, and earings. The Ancient Egyptians, Romans and Greeks grounded it up and used it as eye shadow. They also used it in amulets to protect against the evil eye. And in the middle ages it was used to protect children from witches and other dangers. It has not been altered, the only alterations it gets is to be polised and put into jewlery.
