Principal's Pen

Dear Bishop Baraga Families,

Welcome back Trekkers! I hope you had a wonderful Easter. What a blessing it was to be back in our Churches for the Easter Triduum this year. The celebration of the Resurrection of our Lord is central to our faith and is the highest celebration of all for Catholics. May the blessings of this season continue to flow out upon all of us! At the bottom of this newsletter is a reflection on the Resurrection of Jesus that I hope you can find the time to listen to.

Today in the Monday Mailer we are sending home a few important items. First, kindergarten through eighth grade report cards are going home. These are your copies to keep. They are also posted on SchoolSpeak. Please take the time to go over these with your children. Celebrate their successes and encourage them in their struggles. One more quarter to go! Some of you will also be receiving your tuition contract. Please sign and return that to school. Once we receive your signed contract we finalize your payment plan in FACTS and you're all set for another great year at BBCS.

Our Caught Being a Christian Award this week goes to Alex Nieschulz. He gave money to a friend who forgot theirs on the field trip so his friend could purchase a drink. He was practicing the virtue of generosity. Great job, Alex!

Have a wonderful week!

2nd Grade Classroom Flooring

Over Easter Break we had new flooring installed in our second grade classroom thanks to generous donations from both Joanne Hady and Ron and Diana Tortelli. Below you can see a few pictures of the process. Mr. Vicenzi spent a couple of days removing the old carpeting and the tile underneath it before the new floor could be installed. It looks wonderful! The second graders were so excited and happy this morning when they walked into their classroom. I wish you could have seen their big smiles! In June, right after school is out, we will be replacing flooring in a few more classrooms that have very old carpeting. What a difference this makes!

Story Character Day

Below are a few pictures from Story Character Day. The kindergarten students love the story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" by Eric Carle and dressed as the caterpillar. Even Mrs. Steinbrecher got into the spirit of the day! She dressed as the coconut tree in the story "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom".
