Principal's Message

It is hard to believe that we are this close to the end of the school year. While this year has had its share of challenges, it has also been memorable and rewarding. Our School Staff is exceptionally proud of all our students' progress.

At this time of year, we assess what our students have learned using different assessment tools, including the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP). Each spring, students in grades three through eight participate in the CAASPP. This year students will take the following test(s) between May 1st and May 19th.

  • Smarter Balance Summative Assessment in English Language Arts/Literacy
  • Smarter Balance Summative Assessment in Mathematics
  • Smarter Balance Summative Assessment in Science (Grades 5 & 8 only)

Please support your child in doing their best by ensuring they get enough sleep, attend school on time, and please do not schedule appointments during testing.

The week of May 8th-12th is ALL Staff and Teacher Appreciation Week! Students can record a special message for our staff using Fliggrid or any other platform they know. Please help them with this task, as our team has worked hard to support all our kids to learn and thrive academically and socially.

In May, we also observe an important national holiday that focuses on remembering those military service members who gave their lives in the service of our country, Memorial Day. This year Memorial Day will be observed on Monday, May 29th. There will be no school on that day to honor those fallen heroes.

Student Safety 1st During Drop-Off and Pick-Up

Please support our effort to keep our students safe by respecting the no-parking areas.

When picking up and dropping off your students at school, ideally, we would ask that you park on a side street or in the school parking lot and walk your student to a school entrance.

Rear Parking Lot: If you drop off or pick up students at the side gate of the rear parking lot, please stay to the right, nearest the yellow line at the fence. Staying to the right will allow other vehicles to exit around those vehicles still waiting for their student(s).

Jerry Drive and Lillian Drive Gates: There are two gates at the rear of the Bard playground, which are available for student pick-up or drop-off. The gates at the Jerry Drive and Lillian Drive cul de sacs are staffed during pick-up and drop-off times and are significantly less crowded. The Jerry Drive and Lillian Drive gates are excellent pick-up and drop-off area alternatives.

IT IS NOT SAFE AND ILLEGAL TO PARKING ON PLEASANT VALLEY RD DIRECTORY OUTSIDE THE KINDER CLASSROOMS. There is plenty of parking in the school parking lot, and much safer.

Thank you for your cooperation!
