Staff Appreciation for the holidays
Do you want to give your child’s teachers and support staff a little something for the holidays but have no idea what they’d like? Problem solved!
This year we have again asked staff members at Adams to let us know a bit about themselves and what they want! So if you’d like to say thank you this holiday season, consider checking out the staff surveys that have been completed at https://drive.google.com/open?id=10GLmBr4TlQB9-66GMr1qLVttZBQ_C6VS .
Pe and wellness news
PE NEWS
Each class warmed up with exercises that started with the arms, moved to the legs, and finished with the whole body. We then did different motor skills (skip, slide, hop, run, gallop, bear walk, toe plates) to different letters of the alphabet that are taped around the gym walls. Upon returning, students did a strength exercises. We did 3 minutes of PACER practice to keep heart rates and breathing rates up. The second half of class offered a wide variety of gymnastics skills on the floor and the mats.
WELLNESS NEWS
The entire school is practicing gratitude with the Look For the Good Campaign. In addition, the hallway is filling with information about sleep: why it's important and how to get better sleep. Here's the source of most facts: https://www.healthiergeneration.org/campaigns/sleep-smarter-perform-better. Please plan to join your child for Bring Your Parents to PE week from Jan 13-17. Also, plan to join the fun at Peak Elite Gymnastics for an open gym of free play on January 26th from 12-2. It's free. Call the school office if you need a ride! On January 1, the Heart of the Valley Runners offers a free 5K and 2K at Avery Park starting at 10:00 AM. Register at http://www.hotvrunners.com/resolution-run.html. 100 students have reached 10 miles in AIM. At the other end, Saffin Wrolstad just topped 80 miles. Yoga meets each Monday and Friday at break.
Supply Drive for Jackson Street Youth Services
Supply Drive for Jackson Street Youth Services
One of our after-school clubs, the Community Connection Club, does projects at school with a focus on having a positive impact in the city of Corvallis.
For the last week of this club, we'll be collecting supplies for Jackson Street Youth Services. They are in need of winter gloves, hats and scarves, hand warmers, toiletries such as deodorant, shampoo and conditioner, toothpaste and toothbrushes, and individually wrapped snacks like granola bars, fruit snacks, or protein bars.
We'll be collecting supplies now through next Tuesday the 10th of December.
If you're able to contribute, please send items to school with your students and they will deposit them into their classroom collection bags.
Many thanks!!
From the Community Connection Club
