Pennies for Patients 2020
We are very excited to announce that for our 9th year Clear Creek Elementary is teaming up with the Leukemia & Lymphoma society to participate in the Pennies for Patients program. We will have a little competition, have a lot of fun, and be able to make a difference in the lives of others.
This is a fantastic community service project for our students, and the Pennies for Patients program is not only to raise money for research and patient services but also to teach children about cancer, philanthropy, and teamwork. By pooling pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters, our school will help in the fight against childhood leukemia, which is the number one cancer killer of children. Children helping children is what makes the Pennies for Patients program so unique.
We also want to make this year's program extra special since we have one of our very own students that has been personally affected with the disease and has been diagnosed with NF. This is Eli Duby’s final year at CCE and we want to make sure he leaves this year with some wonderful memories of how his family here at CCE came together for this great cause.
When: The program will run from January 21st – February 7th.
How: We will encourage everyone to participate. First of all each student will be provided with an information letter, individual collection box to take home and collect pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters for their class.
The Competition: In order to make this project fun for our students, we will also include a little friendly competition between classes and grades.
· The class raising the most money will be rewarded with a classroom Pizza party and a special dessert.
· The class with the second most money raised will be rewarded with an ice cream cone coupon from McDonalds.
· The grade with the most money raised will be rewarded with a “make your own ice cream sundae” during your lunch period.
Information letters for parents/students will be sent home soon! Please be on the look out!
