Learning Targets

Language Arts- This week in language arts we will be starting our PBL. We will be looking at an event that happened in the 20th century and researching it. We are also doing book clubs with a historical fiction books that are set in that time period. I am excited about all the new information we will be learning and sharing with each other.

Math- Your child is continuing on their math journey as they dive into interpreting and creating charts (bar graphs, dot charts, etc.)

Science- Science Boot Camp is off to a great start. Our platoon (class) vulnerability is identifying and comparing the physical characteristics of the Earth, Sun, and Moon! Individually, your child has their own goal. They are working to strengthen a concept of their choosing. They also have homework associated with their personal vulnerability standard. It is DUE FRIDAY! Please check in with them. They are all responsible for keeping track of their Science Folder! They are required to have it daily and due to the important contents, should NOT be lost! Also, stop to take a look at the moon in the month of April! We are keeping track of the moon phases. Your child has a place to document what they see in their folder.

NISD NEWS

Enrollment Online Begins April 18 for 2016-2017 School Year

Beginning April 18, Enrollment Online will be available for students new to Northwest ISD and students returning to the school district. In order to access the online registration feature, parents of students currently enrolled in the district must have a Home Access Center (HAC) account. Access to the HAC requires an internet connection and a confidential username and password issued to the parent by the school. If you are unsure of your HAC login, contact your child’s campus. There will be an Enrollment Online help desk (817-698-1099) available at the NISD Administration Building from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting April 18. If you have questions or need assistance, please call the help desk or your child’s campus. For more information and to enroll, go to www.nisdtx.org/enrollment.

Auction Donations

We are doing weekly Friday auctions, where the kids can spend there 5th grade money. We are asking for donations to help sustain our auction materials. Gently used items, old toys, dollar items, fingernail polishes, notepads, games, g-rated movies, craft supplies, etc. are all welcome. Please send donated items to your homeroom teacher. The students work hard to earn their money, and we want to maintain a high incentive for good behavior. The auctions play a significant role in the positive environment we are creating. Thank you for your involvement and support.
