Dual Enrollment

Many students would like to take dual enrollment classes at Northridge High School for the 2023-2024 school year. This section will advise and help you.

Every student MUST be enrolled in a dual enrollment class BEFORE the first day of school. The first day of school for the 23-24 school year is August 9th! Be certain to use the "Academic Crosswalk" before you register for a class (see this link and page 38) https://www.tuscaloosacityschools.com/Page/2419

Once you register for classes, the college, or university, will send an approval form to your counselor. Then, he/she will place an "enrichment class" into your schedule to take the place of the core class that you are taking for dual enrollment.

YOU ARE ENCOURAGED TO REGISTER FOR THE DUAL ENROLLMENT CLASS EARLY THIS SUMMER SO YOUR SCHEDULE CAN BE ADJUSTED BEFORE THE FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!

Also, if you decide to change your dual enrollment class, for example, from an English class to a History class, then your entire schedule will change.

2023-2024 School Year - Shelton State Classes on Campus

This fall during 1st block Northridge High School will have two Shelton State classes offered on campus. The classes are English Composition 101 (ENG 101 Course #01999C1001) which will count for your English Literature 11th grade course, and United States History II (HIS 202 Course #04999C1010) which will count for your United States History 11th.

These two classes will be taught by Shelton State faculty in the following method: On Monday and Wednesday during 1st block you will take ENG 101 and on Tuesday and Thursday during 1st block you will be taught HIS 202. Friday is a day in which you will be in class for 1st block, but can study and complete assignments for these two classes.

Ms. Beverly Foster, from Shelton State Community College, and Ms. Andrea Markham, TCS Coordinator of Post-Secondary Engagement, will be on Northridge's campus on June 7th, 8th and 9th for a registration session(s).

Marine JROTC On Campus

Major York will be teaching Marine JROTC on campus at Northridge High School (NHS) during the 2023-2024 school year. Major York will have the JROTC class set for 4th block in both the fall and spring semester.

This is a great opportunity for current JROTC students to stay on campus to take their ROTC classes and for new prospective JROTC students to take the first class as an elective to determined their interest.

We are excited to have Major York on campus for our student body. Go Jags!
