Kinder Cubs Newsletter
Week Thirty Three: May 17 - May 21
Weekly Curriculum
For ELA, we will continue our dive into long vowels by focusing on "e" followed by a "sneaky e". Understanding when and why a vowel is short or long can be tricky, so we encourage you to continue this discussion at home whenever you read with your child. We will also work on double consonant endings.
For Big Ideas, we will focus on ladybugs. After studying and discussing a ladybug's life cycle, their wants and needs, and other distinguishing facts, we will have the opportunity to study and observe live ladybugs in our classroom.
During asynchronous learning times, we will encourage your child to practice previously introduced content using the resources below. We have included these for you as well if you would like to review these concepts with your child. If you have any questions, please let us know!
Last but not least, we want to reinforce our mantra of the power of play. Kindergarten is a time of great academic development. It is also a time when children form and solidify connections with their peers, develop social skills, and strengthen their ability to communicate their observations and thoughts. Play is an integral part of our day, as it nurtures social and emotional development. During this week at home, we encourage the balance of academic development with social and emotional development through play.
ABC Countdown
The end of the school year is quickly approaching! To celebrate an awesome year of Kindergarten, we will celebrate with an ABC countdown. For the last 26 days of Kindergarten, we will review a letter each day with a fun activity.
